Between balls of steel and simple stupidity?
Driving to work this morning on the highway, following a guy taking the Goldwing to work today. Its 7 effing degrees.
I didn't think "wow, he's a badass." I thought "wow, what a moron."

I usually draw the line at the seventh pint ;)
But in all seriousness, a goldwing would NOT be my choice in low temps like that.

i had to ride my zx6r all winter. granted i'm in texas...so winter is like 50* and sunny... but my truck developed electrical gremlins and since i was working a 7/12 shutdown i rode the bike instead of wasting valuable sleep time on a POS furd...so, i'd say moron on the bike has balls of steel. the majority of people would pussy out before getting on the highway.

I dunno. That Goldwing probably has a heated seat, heated backrest and heated grips. A nice big windshield to stay out most of the wind, and, likely, heated clothing.
So from a temperature point of view, it may not be that moronic.
Road condition wise... I dunno. With temps that low, snow actually regains some grip. It's the around-freezing snow that's trickiest.

I rode my grom to and from the maint building yesterday at work. That's maybe 1.5 miles round trip. It was all the way up in the 30's in Austin.
I froze my ass off. My helmet kept my face protected, and I had decent gloves on, but every other part of me was miserable.

For three years all I had was a VFR 750, at Ft Campbell. Heated grips and heated vest made a huge difference, but the lowest I was ever out was most likely 0. Knees would get really cold.

A guy near me has a Ural with the sidecar. I've only seen him riding it when the roads are snow covered.
